A lot of Baseball

Thursday brought a full day of adventures for Amanda and I. We started out the morning riding our bikes to the metro which is about 20 minutes away and I have only been there once before with Brandon. Somehow we found the metro and I got us to the same station I had taken before. We came out right in the middle of the shopping center we wanted to be at so that was a relief. We walked around all the stores, mostly not finding much that was our style but we both ended up making some purchases at the same store. I got a cute pair of yellow shorts and nice shirt. We didnt really find much after that, and I was also looking for a new pair of sunglasses because Henk broke mine this week but once again they had none that were the way I liked. Henk did find me a website though of sunglasses and I found a similar pair for about 15 euros that I might have to order if I dont find any soon. We then took the metro over to Rotterdam central station so that I could exchange some cash for euros and boy was that depressing. I got 69 euros back for 100 u.s dollars. We found our way home much easier though and quicker which was nice because it really started heating up on this day. We got home and ready for the baseball game that night and had a cab come get us because there was no way we were biking another 45 minutes to Neptunus Stadium after all the biking and walking we had already done that day. We really enjoyed our time there and our "boxseats" where we got free drinks and snacks. The Netherlands beat Cuba 3-2. After the game we met up with the boys who were there and then went out to a place i've never been before. Here are some pics of us that day...

Amanda left early Saturday morning and that meant I am now home alone, which I am really not liking. So at the last minute I have decided to go visit Amanda in Germany for the week so that I will not be sitting at home alone, letting my homesickness sink in. I hate not being busy!!! So yesterday Henk took me to Amsterdam to buy my eurail pass and I leave tomorrow morning at 7:30 to go to Germany until Saturday. I am nervous for the trip because i've never been on a train, especially alone but I cant wait to be there. We plan on visiting Munich while i'm there so I should have plenty of pictures and stories when I get back next weekend.

Today I went with Henk, his brother, his dad and 2 of their friends to more of the baseball games but this time they were at the largest field in Holland which is in Haarlem, right by Amsterdam. The first game was the U.S vs Cuba and it was over 3 hours long of the most boring baseball i've ever watched while the sun relentlessly beat down on us and I dripped sweat. I was miserable. We ended up losing 7-4. I took some pictures of the U.S players though..especially #3 :]

After that game Netherlands played Japan and beat them 4-0. It was 0-0 until the 7th or 8th. Much quicker game then the first one thankfully. The highlight of my day though was between games when the field crew went out to do the field..look at who was walking out there...

YES...if you're wondering if that field crew guy is wearing ORANGE WOODEN SHOES the answer is YES. hahahha. so hilarious. I died.

Anyway, thats about all i've got for now. Just watching the Final World Cup Soccer game and its still tied 0-0. Super stressful. I really hope we win. I can hear people screaming from the other houses everytime we get close to scoring or Spain does haha. Well I will update you next week of my travels. Hope everyone had a great weekend.

Love, Olivia
