Baseball, California Girls, and Discos

Well I had quite a different day today. I was planning on going to some baseball games in Rotterdam with Margreet that are with many different countries but when I went downstairs after she brought the dogs back from their time at the park she told me that Wauter (pronounced like Walter) had texted Frans asking if I would like to go to a baseball game with them which is very nearby in the 2nd biggest baseball park in Holland, but there are only 2 fields! I was nervous to go but Margreet assured me they were nice boys and I would be fine and they also took the American girl out all the time last year so I accepted and they gave him my cell phone number to the cell phone they got for me here so he could get in contact with me. Around 3:15 Wauter and Henk (pronounced Hank) picked me up outside of the house and the three of us went to the game. We arrived in the 4th inning and watched the Belgium team take on the Italian team, which was short because in just 7 innings the run rule took effect with Italy beating the Belgiums 10-0. I also had my very first beer in Holland here when I shared a Heineken with the boys.

Sooo...my highlight of the day is next...as i've mentioned in the past 2 blogs..the song by Katy Perry "California Girls" is always coming on in the car..well we were leaving the baseball field and I am sitting in the back, Henk is driving and Wauter has shotgun and I hadn't noticed yet but this song came on the radio. I looked over and Wauter and Henk were laughing and Wauter turned to me and said "this song.." and I replied after realizing what it was I was like "California Girls? haha". Then Wauter said.."yes isnt this your theme song over there right now?"  All I could do was laugh..especially when he started singing along during the car ride. I was just glad someone henced the correlation for once!!

Wauter asked me if I liked to go out and I replied yes so he invited me out with them tonight, saying that Denise (the girl I am very close to on the team..she plays D3 in Georgia) was going too. I accepted and had anxiety all day. I went to the First mens softball game with the family and we enjoyed watching them mercy the other team from who knows where! The American baseball player, Brendon, was the umpire for the game which was a job I wouldnt have wanted especially when you cant tell what anyone is saying to you when you piss them off!!

After the game we went back home where I tried to keep myself awake because i'm usually asleep by 11:00pm here but that is when they go out here so they rode their bikes to pick me up..there were 5 of the boys and after Frans threatened their lives if they didnt get me back safely we departed to meet up with Denise on the way to a Disco in Rotterdam (aka a club). Luckily Denise likes to people watch like I do so we got into the club for free, being girls and all, and then once inside Wauter bought all of our drinks, although me and Denise didnt drink much. I mostly didnt because I was terrified of the 30min bike ride back. No thank you on getting hurt before my first game here!! I had an enjoyable ride back joking with 2 of the boys and I was relived that they for the most part understand my sarcasm. Now I am home and I am going to bed..sooo tired!! Nothing planned for tomorrow so we will see where the day takes me...

Greetz,
Olivia
